Like Diablo, players will have more difficult decisions to make in Diablo IV's final game about how to improve their character. Certain tiles on the Paragon board could benefit certain abilities over others, which means even if two players are playing the same class, the abilities and bonuses they've chosen to play with on their Paragon boards could be wildly different.
"Each of these squares might be plus five strength or an ability that is different or that can enhance your skills," Fergusson said. "And this means you'll be able to click these different boards together to create your own path through.
That's one of the things we love regarding Diablo IV. Even when Joe and I both had to create an Barbarian, and even if we wanted to both play as Whirlwind Barbarians to give an example, we could still build completely different models."
After the departure of its director who was in place prior to 2021, following various lawsuits and investigations alleging a "frat boy" culture of work at Activision Blizzard, Diablo IV is scheduled to launch in 2023. It will also support cross-play and cross-progression between PC as well as consoles. Blizzard recently released new information regarding Diablo IV's five and final launch class, called the Necromancer.
